INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
BARRY PALMER

Follow Your Dream

Barry J. Palmer, of Berowra, NSW, Australia, a member of the Hornsby Lions Club since 1976, was elected to serve as First Vice President of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 95th International Convention, held in Bussan, Korea, June 22-26. He was elected as our current International President at the 96th International Convention in Hamburg, Germany held July 5-9, 2013.

During 2013-2014, Lions are challenged to follow their dream to reach new heights. As we strive to achieve our dreams, we need responsible leaders who provide timely feedback, share accountability and work in teams. As we work in teams, we should also provide immediate and expanded recognition of results or contributions. Our overall dream as an organization is to serve those in need in every community in the world. To achieve this dream, we must expand our reach by strengthening existing clubs, adding new clubs, and recruiting new members.

Monday August 4, 2014 the Lions Club of Scituate will be hosting our annual charity fund raising event.

DISTRICT GOVERNOR

Listen, Involve, Observe Nurture Share

We all remember Dr. Kings’s speech “I have a dream”. This year our Lions Club International President Barry Palmer wants us “Follow your dream”.  By working with the committed Lions who have agreed  to be on my “dream team” I envision a District that has returned to its roots, unifiying tradition with today’s technology and social networking. Our goal is to continue to gather more members into our Pride; more hands, more ideas, more visibility and more fun in our communities.   I envision future leaders who not only have the desire to lead but the training, mentoring and support needed to do their very best.

My challenge this year is to see how well I can follow the guidelines my dreams have given me. I hope to leave definite impressions  of  ” pawprints” on solid cement instead of on sand, so that future leaders will be able to follow the path that will strengthen and grow our District (not only for the next few years but well  into the next century.)
